On January 24th, 2024, the La Gan Wind Power Development Limited Liability Company organized a ceremony to bestow a solar lighting system to Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province. The lighting system utilizes solar energy, contributing to the region’s sustainable development.
The event witnessed the presence of Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc, Chairman of Tuy Phong District People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Phuc Tin – Secretary of Binh Thanh Commune Party Committee. From Lagan Wind, Ms. Dang Thanh Van, Director of Corporate Affairs, attended and delivered a speech, sharing insights about this meaningful activity.
The solar lighting system includes 68 solar lights of 5 meters height and the capacity of 400W. These lights are installed along the 716 road, providing convenience and safety for the people in Binh Thanh commune and Lien Huong town during evening travel.
During the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc, Chairman of Tuy Phong District People’s Committee praised the positive contributions of Lagan Wind to local community. He said, ‘Binh Thuan Province always welcomes and appreciates foreign businesses coming to invest and contribute to the development of the locality in terms of economy, environment, and society’.
Besides improving residents’ daily lives, the solar lighting system aids the coastal district in reducing its dependence on fossil energy sources. This, in turn, helps minimize CO2 emissions which can lead to harmful impacts arising from climate change, something that Vietnam as a nation is very susceptible to along its coastline in particular. Through this practical and specific action, Lagan Wind reaffirms its commitment to supporting Vietnam in transitioning to sustainable energy and reducing net emissions.
Ms. Dang Thanh Van expressed, ‘We hope that the solar lighting system will not only improve transportation safety for local people, but also promote the awareness and necessary trend of incorporating renewable energy as a significant part of the energy mix to protect the environment.’
Mr. Stuart Livesey, CEO of the La Gan Offshore Wind Project and representative of Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) in Vietnam, affirmed, “It’s fantastic to work with the local community to start having a green impact, by supporting the incorporation of renewable energy sources to support residents. We are donating solar lights to a community that we have had a relationship over the past 4 years as we continue the development of the proposed La Gan offshore wind project. CIP and the La Gan project recognize the need for a long-term relationship with the people of Binh Thuan province in particular as large renewable energy projects are proposed in their waters, and the people of Vietnam in general. We are committed to accompanying Vietnam on its sustainable energy transition journey and achieving its net zero emissions goals.”
